ICT DEVELOPS OUR CHILDREN'S CONFIDENCE AND CREATES POSSIBILITIES

//////////

ICT Enhances Creative Thinking Skills

The development of concrete creative thinking skills are vital for children to acquire within their early years of learning .  Creative thinking skills can be explored and extended thorughout a variety of learning areas and assist children in developing the necessary thinking skills for participation in both educational lessons and participation in the wider world. Without the development of crative thinking skills, children will become unimaginative and lack the necessary skills to participate in thier personal and professional life (Wheeler, Waite & Bromfield, 2002).

Through engaging with ICT, children are able to enhance their thinking skills thorugh:

  • developing new process and practices

  • engage in personal research

  • connect with others

  • become responsible for their own learning

  • revisit tasks which require more understanding

  • porgress to more challenging tasks

  • expressing their individuality and creativity

  • developing confidence

As parents, we all want our children to gain vital skills and understanding to be prepared to think about live skills and decissions. ICT allows our children to develop these skills through a variety of methods.

ICT Reduces the Feeling of Failure

"The use of ICT gives opportunities for learning through failure and learning to deal with failure. It provides an archive of decisions taken, a trace, so failure is not so serious and wasteful of time and resources. ICT provides a special place for risk taking where pupils do not feel so open to possible ridicule" (Talboys).

Often in classroom scenarios, children become unwilling to answer questions and participate due to feeling 'dumb' and being 'ridiculed'. ICT allows our student to learn at their own pace, experiencing failures to expand their understanding and knowledge without fear of ridicule. Through ICT, our students are able to revise learning experiences and explore content in a variety of learning strategies to ensurethe continuing development of their understanding and knowledge.

As parents, you don't want your children to not participate in learning due to fears of uncertainty. ICT provides a platofrm for every child to participate and develop their understanding at their own pace.

ICT Provides Independent, Personalised and Collaborative Learning for Everyone

Through participating in ICT experiences at school, all students are able to angage with the learning materials and gain meaningful and relevant knowledge. This knowledge is able to be transfered to home lives and students are able to continue to explore and further their undertsanding in their own environments.

For those students that dont have access to ICT programs and devices at home, incorperating this technology into the classroom ensure they  still gain valuable knowledge, insight and experience with a variety of IT materials and learning styles.

As parents, everyone wants to provide their children with the highest possible levels of experiences, education and knowledge to prepare them as active members of society. For some of us, it's not always possible to provide our children with the latest gadgest, especially given the rapid changes in technology. Through incorperating ICT into the classrooms, every child will be given the opportunity to engage with  and learn through this technology.
